On Thursday, November 24, 2016, the Artist and Manager Awards 2016, sponsored by Dice, took place at The Troxy in London. The event was filled with excitement and positivity, creating a strong sense of community and togetherness among attendees. The Music Managers Forum (MMF) team, led by Fiona and Webbo, did a fantastic job organizing the event and bringing it to life.
Vector Management's Peter Rudge was honored with the renowned Peter Grant Award for his work with legendary artists such as The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, and Duran Duran. In his acceptance speech, Rudge reflected on his illustrious 50-year career with an impressive 27-minute address, starting with, "This speech was 50 years in the making."
The Breakthrough Artist Award was presented to Years & Years, with Imogen Heap and Diane Wagg congratulating them. Stormzy's manager, Tobe Onwuka, received the Breakthrough Manager Award for his outstanding work. Joan Armatrading was honored with the Artist's Artist Award, recognizing her lifelong career and the profound impact of her work on fellow artists.
The 1975 was named Artist of the Year, while Jonathan Dickins, manager of the XX and Adele, was awarded Manager of the Year. This year's Industry Champion Award was posthumously given to David Enthoven, a pioneer in the industry and one of the FAC's first patrons and supporters. His contributions were deeply missed by all.
