On September 13, 2011, the inaugural Artist and Manager Awards, sponsored by Spotify, took place at The Roundhouse in London. The event celebrated exceptional talents in the music industry, honouring both artists and their managers for their achievements.
John Glover received the Peter Grant Award for Lifetime Achievement, recognising his contributions to the music industry, particularly with David Bowie and Queen. Ed Sheeran was honoured with the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award, while his manager, Stuart Camp, received the Breakthrough Manager of the Year Award for guiding Sheeran’s rise.
Martin Mills, founder of the Beggars Group, was named Industry Champion for his advocacy for artists’ rights and independent music. Carol Crabtree received the Writer/Producer Manager of the Year Award for her work with successful songwriters and producers.
Massive Attack was presented with the Artist’s Artist Award, recognising their influential career and inspiration to peers. The Team Achievement Award went to Everybody’s, the management team behind Mumford & Sons, celebrating their collective efforts.
The evening, co-organised by the MMF and FAC, featured live performances from new talents and highlighted the importance of artist-manager partnerships.
